GCCs Drive Record Office Space Growth in India
Big companies from around the world, called global capability centres (GCCs), are renting a lot of office space in India.
In the first half of 2026, they rented about 19.2 million square feet, which is almost half of all the office space rented in India's biggest cities.
This is a big increase from the same time last year.
Most of this renting happened in cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
These companies are choosing India because it's a good place to do important business work.
GCCs leased 19.2 million sq. ft. of office space in H1 2026, accounting for 45% of total leasing in India's top seven cities.
Overall gross leasing reached approximately 42.6 million sq. ft. in H1 2026.
GCCs' share of leasing increased from 41% in H1 2025 to 45% in H1 2026.
GCCs accounted for 70% of office space absorption in Bengaluru, 55% in Chennai, and 48% in Hyderabad.
India's Grade A office market remained steady in H1 2026, attracting occupiers looking to consolidate higher-value functions.
