Madras HC Dismisses Minister's Plea Against ED Action
The Madras High Court has dismissed a plea by Tamil Nadu Minister I. Periyasamy and his family against the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) actions in a money laundering case.
The court said the family should have first approached the authority under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) before coming to the High Court.
The case started with a Disproportionate Assets case against the Minister, which was later revived by the High Court.
The Supreme Court had given an interim stay on related proceedings, but the High Court said this did not stop the ED's actions.
The court's decision means the ED can continue its proceedings against the Minister and his family.
