Mumbai Police Arrests Man Behind ₹63 Crore APK Fraud
A 26‑year‑old student named S K Mandal was caught by Mumbai police for making fake Android apps that tricked people into installing them.
The apps pretended to be from gas or electricity companies, and when people installed them, the criminals could steal money from their bank accounts.
Police found many phones, a laptop, and a database with information on 37,200 people.
They say Mandal sold 91 of these fake apps to other criminals and was involved in almost 3,000 fraud cases across India, costing people about ₹63 crore.
The case shows how dangerous fake apps can be and why it’s important to be careful about what you download.
