TN Pushes for Hosur Airport
The Tamil Nadu Government wants to build a new airport in Hosur.
The Defence Ministry said no because the places chosen are needed by a big aerospace company.
The state government thinks it's okay because it will take 10 years to build the airport, and a rule that says no new airports near Bengaluru until 2033 won't be a problem.
The government wants this airport to help the area grow, bring in more money, and create jobs.
Some people think this might become a big political issue before the next elections.
Tamil Nadu Government is pushing for a greenfield airport in Hosur.
Defence Ministry rejected proposed sites, citing Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd's needs.
Two locations were identified: Shoolagiri taluk and 15.5 km east of Hosur city.
A clause prohibits new airports within 150 km of Bengaluru until 2033.
State government believes the airport will take 10 years to build, making the clause irrelevant.
