Malaya Goswami to receive Bhaben Baruah Award for Assamese art
A talented actress from the Indian state of Assam has won a special award.
Her name is Malaya Goswami.
She has acted in movies, TV shows and plays for many years.
The award is called the Bhaben Baruah Award.
It is named after a famous filmmaker who helped shape Assamese cinema.
The award is given every year to people who do great work in art and culture.
Malaya will get a cash prize of 15,000 rupees.
She will also receive a memento and traditional Assamese gifts like an xorai, gamosa and cheleng.
She will receive the award on September 3 at a theater called Nalbari Natya Mandir.

Veteran Assamese actress Malaya Goswami has been selected for the Bhaben Baruah Award 2026.
The award recognises her outstanding contribution to Assam's art, cinema and cultural heritage.
It is instituted by the Nalbari District Committee of the Asom Jatyatabai Yuva-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) in memory of filmmaker Bhaben Baruah.
The award, presented annually since 2009, carries a cash prize of Rs 15,000 along with a memento, xorai, gamosa and cheleng.
Goswami, who debuted with the 1985 drama Sarbajan, will receive the honour on September 3 at Nalbari Natya Mandir.
