Household Savings in Equities and Mutual Funds Surge
Imagine people are putting more of their money into stocks and funds.
This means more of their savings are in investments like stocks instead of just keeping cash.
In March 2025, about 15.2% of all the money households saved was in stocks and funds, which is around ₹5.4 lakh crore.
Before, three years ago, it was only about ₹2 lakh crore.
Also, people are directly buying more stocks; around 2.1% of their savings are now in stocks, which was just 0.8% three years ago.
This means more people are choosing to invest directly in the stock market.
Household savings in equities and mutual funds have risen significantly.
In March 2025, 15.2% of household savings were in equities and mutual funds.
Total savings in equities and mutual funds amounted to ₹5.4 lakh crore as of March 2025.
In FY23, savings in equities and mutual funds were about ₹2 lakh crore.
Direct equity exposure has risen to 2.1% of household savings.
