Religious body objects to pork sale on J-K quick-commerce platform

In Jammu and Kashmir, India, a group of religious leaders became upset about something they saw on an online shopping app.

The group is called the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema, and its head is a chief preacher named Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

People shared screenshots showing pork products being sold on a quick-commerce delivery platform in Kashmir.

The religious leaders said selling or eating pork is not allowed in Islam, their religion.

They explained that Muslims are very sensitive about this rule.

They asked the company to remove the pork products from the platform right away.

They also said the products should not be stocked, advertised, or sold anywhere in Kashmir.

They asked the authorities to investigate the matter and warn the people responsible.

They reminded businesses that they must respect the religious and cultural feelings of the region.
