KSEB Launches New Daytime EV Charging Rates
Imagine you have an electric car and need to charge it.
The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has changed how much they charge to encourage you to charge your car when the sun is shining.
During the day (9 am to 4 pm), when solar power is available, it's cheaper to charge.
This is like a special deal to use clean energy!
At night (4 pm to 9 am), it costs more.
The new rates, decided on December 5, 2024, are to promote using more of renewable energy for your car.
KSEB has introduced new time-of-day rates for EV charging.
Charging is cheaper during solar hours (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) with a 30% discount.
Non-solar hours (4 p.m. to 9 a.m.) have a 30% higher rate.
The new rates follow the December 5, 2024 electricity tariff orders.
The aim is to promote green mobility by encouraging charging during solar hours.
