Karnataka CM warns of drought, water and electricity shortages

Karnataka has received less rain than expected.

This has created concerns about drought, drinking water and electricity.

Chief Minister D K Shivakumar asked people to be mentally prepared.

He said the government is arranging drinking-water supplies.

Officials are collecting information to prepare a report about the drought.

The report will be used when the central government assesses the situation.

So far, 101 areas called taluks have been declared drought-hit.

The state legislature will hold a special session to discuss the situation and farmers’ concerns.
