Documentary on Fun-Da-Mental Founder Aki Nawaz Screens in London
A new documentary is about musician Aki Nawaz.
Nawaz founded the British group Fun-Da-Mental.
The film looks at how he reacted to politics after the Iraq War and the September 11 attacks.
It also discusses ideas such as racism, identity and politics.
The documentary is called More Punk Than Punk.
It will be shown in London at the Rio Cinema.
Another film about Satpal Ram will be shown at the same event.
The event is part of the Doc’n Roll music-film festival.
A discussion with the filmmaker, Nawaz and other guests will happen afterward.
More Punk Than Punk examines Aki Nawaz’s response to post-9/11 Britain and the political climate surrounding the Iraq War.
The documentary was directed by filmmaker Azeem Rajulawalla and focuses on Nawaz’s protest album All is War (The Benefits of G-Had).
The film will screen at London’s Rio Cinema on Saturday (12) as part of the Doc’n Roll film festival.
It will be shown alongside After Eight: The Story of Satpal Ram, about Ram’s long-running fight for justice after his conviction.
