Pune Pilgrims Stranded in Tibet After Flash Flood

Pune Pilgrims Stranded in Tibet After Flash Flood

Six people from Pune went to Tibet for a religious journey.

Two women in the group had trouble breathing, so doctors advised them to return to India.

The group travelled about 800 kilometres to Jilong to leave Tibet.

Before they could finish the paperwork to return, a flash flood destroyed the local immigration office.

This left them stuck and unable to complete the required formalities.

They asked Indian and Maharashtra authorities for help, including an airlift if needed.

Officials are also checking on other tourists from Maharashtra who were affected by floods and landslides.

Some groups have said they are safe, while another group has already returned to India.
