Bihar Flood Crisis Deepens As Ganga Crosses Previous High Level

The Ganga River rose higher than ever recorded before at one place in Patna.

This caused serious flooding in parts of Bihar.

Low-lying river areas called diara lands are almost completely underwater.

Several other rivers also rose above their danger levels.

Floodwater reached railway tracks, so trains between Gaya and Patna were stopped.

Rescue teams have been sent to areas where people may need help.

Bihar officials are watching the water and preparing evacuations.

Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav said the central government should provide more money and helicopters.

He also asked that the floods be declared a national calamity.
