Congress leader blames party's Muslim outreach for AIMIM's civic poll gains
A senior leader from the Congress party, Hussain Dalwai, said that his party made a mistake by not supporting Muslims.
He thinks this is why the AIMIM, a party led by Asaduddin Owaisi, did well in recent city elections in Maharashtra.
The Congress only won 24 seats out of 227 in Mumbai's city council, while AIMIM won 8.
Dalwai said Muslims are turning to AIMIM because they feel the Congress isn't protecting them.
He also criticized the BJP for wanting a Brahmin woman as mayor, calling their politics 'Brahmanwadi'.
Congress leader Hussain Dalwai blamed his party's failure to support Muslims for AIMIM's success in Maharashtra civic polls.
AIMIM won 8 seats in Mumbai's 227-member Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), while Congress won 24.
Dalwai said Muslims are turning to AIMIM for protection, feeling ignored by Congress.
He urged Muslims to support secular parties for their security.
