Global Groups Seek World Health Priority for Diabetic Foot Care
Eight organisations from around the world signed an agreement about diabetic foot disease at a conference in Bengaluru.
They want to work together to help prevent foot problems and find them early.
They also want people to be referred for care quickly and treated by teams of health professionals.
The groups plan to create a global alliance to support this work.
They are asking governments and the World Health Organization to pay more attention to the condition.
The conference also introduced StrideGPT, which answers diabetic-foot questions, and Wound360, which helps clinicians assess and track wounds using photos.
A book about footwear and foot health was also released.
The conference took place from October 1 to 4, 2026, and the release said it hosted about 700 delegates.
Eight organisations from four continents signed a declaration on diabetic foot survival and limb preservation at DFSICON 2026 in Bengaluru.
The signatories announced their intention to form a Global Alliance for Diabetic Foot Survival and Limb Preservation.
Their shared agenda includes prevention, early detection, timely referral, multidisciplinary care, limb preservation and rehabilitation.
The declaration calls on governments and the World Health Organization to prioritize diabetic foot disease.
Conference dignitaries launched StrideGPT and Wound360, two AI-powered tools, and released the book A Step Ahead.
