Apple Watch Series 12 Adds Readiness Score, Five-Second Heart Tracking
Apple is adding new health tools to its latest watches.
A readiness score from zero to ten will suggest whether someone should rest or exercise.
The score uses information about activity, sleep and body readings.
The watches can check heart rate every five seconds, even when a person is moving.
They can also check heart-rate variability more often to show possible recovery and stress patterns.
A redesigned Health app will organize this information and offer suggestions.
Other features include movement tests, cycle tracking and a Health Age comparison.
Some features need newer Apple devices, an Apple Watch or supported sensors.
Apple says the upgrades are meant to give people a fuller view of their health and fitness.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 introduce a 0–10 readiness score based on activity, vital readings and sleep.
New sensors enable background heart-rate readings every five seconds, including while users are moving.
Apple says heart-rate data will be collected 60 times more frequently than before.
Heart-rate variability can be measured as often as every five minutes, a reported 24-fold increase.
The redesigned Health app will add recovery insights, Health Age, movement checks, cycle tracking and personalized recommendations.
