SEBI Proposes Reforms for IPOs, FPIs, and Mutual Funds
The head of SEBI, Tuhin Kanta Pandey, talked about new rules to make investing easier and better.
He said companies should be clearer in their IPO documents, which explain risks and how money will be used.
SEBI also proposed a new rule to help foreign investors save money by allowing them to use money from sales to pay for purchases on the same day.
Additionally, SEBI is changing the rules for mutual funds to make them more transparent and lower costs.
These changes aim to make investing in India easier and more efficient.
SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey called for sharper disclosures in IPO offer documents, focusing on risk factors, valuation rationale, and utilisation of proceeds.
SEBI proposed permitting fund netting for foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) to reduce funding costs and improve operational efficiency.
SEBI overhauled mutual fund regulations, introducing a Base Expense Ratio (BER) and lowering expense ratio caps across most fund categories.
SEBI is focusing on easing fund-raising processes, deepening debt and private capital markets, and widening investor participation.
