Odisha Assembly Ends Winter Session Early

The Odisha government's winter meeting ended much earlier than planned.

It was supposed to last 29 days, but it only went for 11 days.

Even though it was shorter, they still got important money-related work done.

They passed a big spending plan worth Rs 17,440 crore.

This means the government can keep spending money as needed.

The leader of the government group suggested ending the meeting early, and the speaker agreed.

So, the meeting ended without any more business to discuss.

Additionally, the Odisha Assembly increased the monthly salary of its members more than three times, from Rs 1.11 lakh to Rs 3.45 lakh.

This increase will be effective from June 2024 and includes various allowances and benefits.

The salary hike was unanimously approved by all members, who argued that it was necessary to align compensation with current responsibilities and economic realities.
