Senior Citizens Win Compensation for Poor Ayodhya Hotel Stay
Six senior citizens went on a pilgrimage to Ayodhya and booked their stay through IRCTC and MakeMyTrip.
When they arrived, the hotels were very dirty and not at all like what was shown online.
The rooms were not clean, the toilets were shared, and the air conditioning didn't work well.
The senior citizens had to find other places to stay, which cost more money.
They complained and asked for their money back, plus extra for the trouble they went through.
The court said that IRCTC and MakeMyTrip should pay them money because they helped book the hotels and showed the wrong pictures.
The court also said the hotels should pay money for the bad experience.
The senior citizens got their money back, extra for the new hotel, and money for the trouble they had.
Six senior citizens booked accommodation in Ayodhya through IRCTC and MakeMyTrip for a pilgrimage.
The hotels they stayed in were unhygienic, had common toilets, inadequate air-conditioning, and poor maintenance.
The senior citizens had to find alternative accommodation at a higher cost.
The Kakinada District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ordered IRCTC, MakeMyTrip, and the hotels to pay Rs 1.8 lakh in compensation.
The commission rejected the argument that IRCTC and MakeMyTrip were mere intermediaries and held them responsible for the poor conditions.
