Visakhapatnam water crisis looms as monsoon deficit hits groundwater

Visakhapatnam water crisis looms as monsoon deficit hits groundwater

Rain is like nature's way of refilling the water under the ground.

This year, the rains did not come on time, which is called a poor monsoon.

People in the city of Visakhapatnam get water from pipes and from deep wells called borewells.

Because there was so little rain, the water under the ground went down.

Many borewells dried up, so people could not get enough water at home.

Now families, apartment buildings and shops must buy water from special tanker trucks.

Many neighborhoods are affected, like Gajuwaka, MVP Colony and Simhachalam.

The Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, told officials to fix the problem quickly.

He wants them to make the water supply stronger and keep watching the water levels in reservoirs.

He also wants a plan to save flood water from the Krishna river so people have enough water later.
