Balochistan Faces Rising Disappearances, State Repression in 2025
In 2025, the region of Balochistan in Pakistan saw a lot of problems.
Many people, especially women, were forcibly taken away by the government, and more than 10 women are still missing.
The government is being very strict and harsh, making it hard for political activists to do their work.
There were also many attacks, including bomb blasts and a train hijacking, which killed many people.
Families of the missing people are very upset and have been protesting by sitting on a important road called the CPEC highway.
They want the government to bring back their missing family members, including a pregnant woman.
The situation is very serious, and it doesn't look like it will get better soon.
Balochistan experienced a rise in enforced disappearances, particularly of women, with over 10 cases in 2025 and 8 still missing.
State repression escalated, targeting political activists and Baloch women, with courts unable to secure the release of detained leaders.
443 people, including 202 Army personnel, were killed in various attacks, including suicide bombings and targeted killings.
Families protested by staging a sit-in on the CPEC highway in Kech district, demanding the recovery of four missing family members, including a pregnant woman.
Protesters alleged that Pakistani forces detained four more people, including two women, and transferred them to an unknown location.
