Operation Drishti Brings Free Cataract Surgeries to Kashmir’s Border Belt

Operation Drishti Brings Free Cataract Surgeries to Kashmir’s Border Belt

The Indian Army has started a medical programme called Operation Drishti.

It will give free eye care and cataract surgery to people in Kashmir’s border areas.

Cataracts can make it difficult for people to see clearly, especially as they get older.

Doctors first screened people in several towns and villages to find those needing treatment.

Surgeries will take place in Tangdhar and Srinagar.

The Tangdhar operations will be held in a facility built to withstand shelling.

Specialists from New Delhi have been brought in to perform the procedures.

General Dheeraj Seth is scheduled to attend the Tangdhar event.

The programme is intended to help residents who find it difficult to travel for medical care.
