Safecure Services IPO Lists at 20% Discount, Extends Losses
Imagine a company wants to sell small pieces of itself, called shares, to raise money.
This is called an IPO.
People buy these shares hoping the company will do well and the shares will become worth more.
However, when Safecure Services had its IPO, the shares started trading on the stock market for much less than what people paid for them.
The price dropped by 20% right at the start!
Then, the price went down even more.
This happened because not many people were very interested in buying the shares during the IPO, and the overall response was not very strong.
Safecure Services' shares listed on the BSE SME at ₹81.60, a 20% discount to the IPO issue price of ₹102.
The stock extended its losses, hitting the 5% lower circuit at ₹77.55 shortly after listing.
The company's IPO had a tepid response, with an overall subscription of 1.81 times.
The retail investor portion was subscribed 3.31 times, while the non-institutional investor (NII) portion remained undersubscribed at 0.32 times.
The company plans to use the IPO proceeds primarily for debt repayment and funding working capital needs.
