Frog Bacteria May Treat Cancer
Scientists in Japan found a special bacteria in frogs and lizards that can help fight a type of cancer called colorectal cancer.
This bacteria, named Ewingella americana, can attack cancer tumors and make the body's own immune system fight the cancer cells.
This discovery is exciting because it might lead to new cancer treatments that are less painful and have fewer side effects than current treatments like chemotherapy.
The researchers tested 45 different bacteria from frogs and lizards and found that 9 of them could help fight cancer, with Ewingella americana being the most effective.
This new treatment could be cheaper and less painful for patients.
Scientists are also planning to study if this bacteria can help treat other types of cancer, like breast and pancreatic cancer, in the future.
Japanese researchers discovered a bacterium, Ewingella americana, in frogs and lizards that can treat colorectal cancer.
The bacterium attacks cancer tumors and activates the body's immune response to destroy cancer cells.
Out of 45 bacterial strains tested, 9 showed antitumor effects, with E. americana being the most effective.
This treatment could lead to safer and more affordable cancer therapies with minimal side effects compared to chemotherapy.
Future studies will explore the bacterium's potential in treating other cancers, including breast and pancreatic cancer.
