High Court Transfers RG Kar Cremation Probe to CBI
The high court was looking into claims that a junior doctor’s body was cremated too quickly.
The doctor had died after being raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in August 2024.
The state police opened a new case after her father complained about the cremation.
But the CBI was already investigating the events leading up to her death and cremation.
The judges asked why two investigations were being conducted about similar events.
They decided that the CBI should also take over the new police case.
