US Job Seekers Sue Eightfold AI
Two job seekers in the US, Erin Kistler and Sruti Bhaumik, have sued an AI hiring company called Eightfold AI.
They say the company collects personal data about job applicants without their knowledge and uses it to score them for potential employers.
The lawsuit claims that Eightfold AI violates a law called the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), which is supposed to protect people's information.
The company's founders, Ashutosh Garg and Varun Kacholia, say they follow all the rules and that their technology is based on data shared by candidates or provided by customers.
The lawsuit is the first of its kind against an AI hiring company in the US.
A class action lawsuit filed against Eightfold AI for alleged FCRA violations by job seekers Erin Kistler and Sruti Bhaumik.
Eightfold AI is accused of collecting sensitive and often inaccurate information about job applicants without their knowledge.
The lawsuit claims that Eightfold AI uses AI technology to score job applicants from 0 to 5 based on their supposed 'likelihood of success' on the job.
Eightfold AI's founders, Ashutosh Garg and Varun Kacholia, deny the allegations and state that their operations are based on data shared by candidates or provided by customers.
The lawsuit is the first in the US to accuse an AI hiring company of violating the FCRA.
