Himachal Pradesh aims for 90% renewable energy by 2026
The Himachal Pradesh government wants to get most of its energy from renewable sources like solar power by 2026.
Right now, the state uses about 13,000 million units of energy every year.
They plan to set up big solar power projects and have already started some of them.
The government is also working with local villages to set up smaller solar projects.
They have already given permission to many investors to build solar power plants.
This is all part of their plan to make the state more self-sufficient and environmentally friendly.
Himachal Pradesh aims to meet 90% of its energy needs through renewable sources by March 2026.
The state's annual energy consumption is approximately 13,000 million units.
A target of 500 MW of solar power projects is set for the next two years.
The Green Panchayat Programme aims to install 500 kw ground-mounted solar power projects in all panchayats, with a total target of 150 MW.
Several solar power projects are already operational, with more in the execution and tendering stages.
