N Chandrasekaran Resigns As Tata Sons Chairman After Decade-Long Tenure

Mr. Chandrasekaran is the boss of a huge group of companies in India called the Tata Group.

He has worked there for 40 years, and for a long time he led TCS, one of Tata's biggest and most famous companies.

Running Tata Sons is a very important job, and the people who help run the company could not agree about whether he should stay in charge.

They first talked about it six months before he made his decision, but they could not settle their disagreement.

So Mr. Chandrasekaran decided he would not ask to keep the job when his time in charge ends in February 2027.

He told the company to choose a new leader soon because a big company needs clear leadership while many big projects are at important stages.

One of those projects is fixing Air India, the airline the Tata Group bought back from the government in 2022.

Tata's technology business is also having a harder time because companies around the world are spending less on technology.

Mr. Chandrasekaran says new artificial intelligence programs are a big chance, not a danger, for companies like his.

He will keep working as chairman until his term officially ends in February 2027.
