Mumbai Police Bust Mule Account Racket Linked To 38 Cases

Mumbai police say they uncovered a group that allegedly lent bank accounts to cybercriminals.

The accounts were reportedly used for scams involving gaming, cricket betting and casino platforms.

Police arrested three people and are searching for five others.

They say vulnerable people were offered small payments to open accounts.

The group allegedly collected their cards, passbooks, SIM cards and other banking items.

Police seized many bank cards, phones, computers and other equipment.

Seventeen accounts have so far been connected to 38 cybercrime complaints in several states.

About Rs 25.45 crore reportedly moved through those accounts in roughly one-and-a-half to two months.

Investigators are examining the devices and financial records to find more people involved.
