Hyderabad Metro Services Worsen Ahead of Takeover
People in Hyderabad are having a hard time with the Metro train services.
Since the government said they will take over the Metro from the company that runs it now, things have gotten worse.
Trains come less often, and the last train now leaves earlier, which is not good for people who work late.
Some people say the trains are too crowded, and others have stopped using the Metro because of these problems.
The government is going to pay a lot of money to take over the Metro, but until then, the services are not as good as before.
Experts say the government should make the Metro better, not worse, if they want Hyderabad to be a big, important city.
Commuters report reduced train frequency and deteriorated services since the takeover announcement.
The last train timing has been reduced from 11:45 pm to 11 pm, causing inconvenience to late-night commuters.
Passengers complain of overcrowding during peak hours, with allegations of cost-cutting measures worsening congestion.
Daily Metro patronage has dropped by one lakh passengers, from over 5.5 lakh to around 4 lakh.
The state government is set to pay around ₹2,000 crore for equity and assume nearly ₹13,000 crore in debt for the takeover.
