Nissan Mulls Joint US Auto Development With Honda
Imagine two big toy car companies, Nissan and Honda.
They used to be friends and talked about playing together by merging their factories.
But they couldn't agree on who should be in charge, so they stopped talking about merging.
Now, Nissan's boss said they are thinking about working together again, but just on making new kinds of toy cars and smart car parts in America.
This is because America is a very big place where lots of people buy toy cars.
Nissan wants Honda to be able to use its factory space in America, and Nissan also wants help making better electric and smart cars.
Honda is also having some trouble with getting enough computer chips for their cars, which has made them sell fewer cars this year.
Nissan is reportedly considering a joint project with Honda for vehicle and powertrain development in the US.
This potential collaboration focuses on electrification and intelligent vehicle technologies.
Previous merger talks between Nissan and Honda ended in February due to disagreements over power balance.
Nissan is also reportedly considering producing pickup trucks for Honda at its underutilized US plants.
The US is a key market for both automakers, with Nissan lacking in hybrid vehicles where Honda excels.
