Google Hires Obama's Top Lawyer to Fight Antitrust Ruling
Google, the company that runs the search engine, is in a legal fight about whether it's too big.
A judge said Google has an unfair hold on online searches.
Now, Google is trying to overturn this decision.
They hired a super smart lawyer, Donald Verrilli Jr., who used to be the top lawyer for the U.S. government during the Obama era.
His job will be to convince other judges that the first judge was wrong.
If Google loses, they might have to sell parts of their business.
Google believes they did not hurt competition when they made deals with device makers to be the default search engine, and they are now fighting against the government to keep their current business model.
Google has hired Donald Verrilli Jr. to appeal the antitrust ruling against it.
Verrilli was the U.S. Solicitor General during the Obama administration.
The appeal will be made to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
The ruling found Google holds an unlawful monopoly in online search.
Google is fighting proposals to sell off Chrome or share data.
