Jan Dhan Account Balances Rise 55% Over Five Years

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana gives people bank accounts without requiring a minimum balance.

These accounts are meant to help people who may not have used banks before.

The total money saved in the accounts has grown to about Rs 3.17 lakh crore.

The average amount in each account has also increased to Rs 5,356.

There are now about 590.9 million accounts.

Women hold about 56% of these accounts, and many are in rural areas.

RuPay cards and digital systems help people receive government payments directly.

The government says this makes financial services reach more people without middlemen.
