Uttar Pradesh Extends Free Bus Travel To Women Over 60
Uttar Pradesh has started free bus travel for women aged 60 and older.
The offer applies to ordinary buses run by the state transport corporation and its contractors.
Women can use the service by showing an Aadhaar Card or Voter ID Card.
The document must show that they are at least 60 years old.
The conductor will check the document and print a ticket that costs zero rupees.
The ticket records the journey in the transport system.
A special smart card may be provided later, but it is not needed now.
Eligible women should not be charged, and officials will monitor the scheme.
Women aged 60 and above can travel free on ordinary Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation buses.
The facility applies to both corporation-operated and contracted ordinary buses across Uttar Pradesh.
Passengers can prove their age using an Aadhaar Card or Voter ID Card.
Conductors must issue a zero-value electronic ticket for every eligible journey.
Smart cards will be issued separately, but are not required for immediate access.
