Omar Abdullah Addresses Rally, Demands Restoration of Special Status
The leader of a political party in Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, held a big public meeting after a long time.
At this meeting, he talked about wanting back the special rights their region used to have.
He said this was important because the local government had already voted to ask for these rights back.
He also mentioned that his party won many seats in a recent election, and the people they sent to the national parliament should strongly speak up about this issue.
Before this, he mostly talked about wanting their statehood back.
This meeting was also a way for his party to show how popular they are after winning many elections.
Omar Abdullah held his first public rally in a year in Handwara, North Kashmir.
He urged newly elected Rajya Sabha MPs to forcefully raise the issue of restoring Article 370's special status in parliament.
The rally celebrated Chowdhry Mohammad Ramzan's recent election as a Rajya Sabha MP.
The National Conference party used the rally as a show of strength following its landslide victory in the 2024 assembly elections.
Abdullah had previously focused his demands on the restoration of statehood, largely avoiding the topic of Article 370 until this rally.
