Anti-Dumping Duties Proposed on Acrylic Fibre, Epoxy Resin Imports
Imagine companies from other countries are selling certain products in your country at very low prices, much lower than what they sell them for in their own countries.
This can hurt local companies that make the same products because they can't compete with the lower prices.
To protect these local companies, the government is going to make the imported products more expensive by adding extra taxes called anti-dumping duties.
This is happening with things like acrylic fiber (used in clothes) and liquid epoxy resins (used in construction and manufacturing).
The government found that these products were being sold too cheaply from countries like China, Thailand, and others, which was hurting local businesses.
The new duties will make the imported products more expensive, so the local companies can compete better and not lose money.
DGTR recommends anti-dumping duties on acrylic fibre and liquid epoxy resin imports.
Duties are proposed on imports from China, Thailand, Peru (acrylic fibre) and China, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and Thailand (epoxy resin).
The investigation found significant dumping of products from these countries, causing injury to domestic manufacturers.
Anti-dumping duties aim to offset dumping and protect the domestic industry.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) will notify the duties.
