World's First Cross-Border Ropeway To Connect Russia And China
China and Russia are building the very first ropeway that goes from one country to another.
A ropeway is like a cable car that carries people in the air.
It will connect two neighboring cities, Heihe and Blagoveshchensk.
When it is finished, people will be able to travel between the two countries in about eight minutes.
Right now, many people are already crossing the border.
In the first six months of this year, more than 568,000 people went through Heihe Port.
That is over 60% more than during the same time last year.
Part of the reason is that China and Russia made a new rule so that people can travel without needing a visa.
A visa is a special stamp or paper that usually lets you visit another country.
The new ropeway will make it even easier for people and goods to move between the two countries.
Officials believe it will help tourism, trade, and shipping in the area.
The world's first cross-border ropeway between Russia and China is nearing completion.
The ropeway will connect Heihe in China and Blagoveshchensk in Russia, with a travel time of about 8 minutes.
More than 568,000 people crossed through Heihe Port in the first half of this year, a jump of over 60% compared to the same period last year.
Part of the increased crossings is linked to a mutual visa-free travel policy introduced by China and Russia.
Officials say the ropeway is expected to boost tourism, trade, and logistics in the border region.
