Ladakh to Withdraw 25 Cases From September 24 Violence

Protests took place in Leh on September 24 last year.

People were demanding statehood for Ladakh and inclusion under the Constitution’s Sixth Schedule.

The protests became violent, and four people were killed while 50 were injured.

Authorities booked about 87 people after the incident.

Ladakh’s administration now plans to close the cases against 25 of them.

Officials say nine other people have been chargesheeted because there is evidence against them.

Local groups had asked the government to withdraw all cases linked to the violence.

The closure reports for the 25 cases will be submitted to a court.
