Andaman Launches Spice Project to Revive Trade, Boost Production
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are starting a project called 'Spice Pravah' to grow lots of spices again.
They used to be a big part of the spice trade a long time ago.
Now, they're planting many spice plants like cinnamon, black pepper, and nutmeg.
The government is helping by providing plants and advice.
They hope to grow enough spices to sell them, help the local people, and not have to buy spices from other places.
They also plan to make it easier for farmers to sell their spices and make the spices famous.
The Andaman and Nicobar administration launched 'Spice Pravah' to revive the spice trade.
The project aims to boost spice production, reduce imports, and support local communities.
1.25 lakh spice saplings, including cinnamon, black pepper, and nutmeg, will be planted.
Technical support comes from CIARI, the Botanical Survey of India, and other bodies.
The initiative includes establishing spice collection centers and developing a marketing network.
