JLF Panel Discusses Women's Labels and Choices
At the Jaipur Literature Festival, a panel of women authors talked about how society puts labels on women and how these labels affect their lives.
They discussed their books, which all have strong female characters dealing with different societal expectations.
One author talked about how women are often afraid of being single, another talked about the pressure on eldest daughters, and another talked about how women often lose their identity when they become mothers.
The panelists agreed that women want to live freely and not be defined by these labels.
An audience member, Sudha Murthy, disagreed and said women should focus on inner strength.
The panelists argued that societal norms make it hard for women to do that.
Panelists discussed societal labels on women and their impact on personal choices.
Shroff's book explores a woman's journey through divorce and societal expectations.
Mahale's book delves into the 'Eldest Daughter Syndrome' and societal pressures.
Govil's book examines the loss of women's identity through societal labels.
Panelists concluded that women want to live freely without societal labels.
Audience member Sudha Murthy disagreed, advocating for inner strength over societal concerns.
