Uttarakhand High Court Rejects Early Challenge to Proposed Haldwani Shift

Uttarakhand High Court Rejects Early Challenge to Proposed Haldwani Shift

The Uttarakhand High Court is considering moving its buildings from Nainital to the Haldwani area.

The court says Nainital has limited space and infrastructure.

It also says living costs and travel difficulties create problems for some people using the court.

A petitioner objected because the possible new site is forest land.

The petitioner also said the site may be connected to an elephant corridor.

The state said the move is still only at the land-identification stage.

Officials said all required legal and environmental permissions would be sought later.

The court dismissed the challenge because it was filed too early.

It also said the proposed site is about 10 kilometres from the area identified as an elephant corridor.
