Bairabi-Sairang Rail Line Nears Completion; Construction Details
A new train line is almost ready to connect Mizoram's capital, Aizawl, to the rest of India's railway system!
Building it was tricky because materials came from all over, like stones from Assam and steel from far away.
Workers also traveled from different states to help.
The builders had to get creative to move giant metal beams, sometimes taking a month to do what would normally take a day.
This new line includes many tunnels and bridges, one of which is incredibly tall.
The Bairabi-Sairang rail line, connecting Aizawl to the railway network, is ready for inauguration.
Construction materials were sourced from multiple states including Assam, West Bengal, and Jharkhand.
Steel girders used for the project were manufactured in Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and Maharashtra.
Both skilled and unskilled laborers came from various states such as West Bengal, Assam, and Uttar Pradesh.
The 52-km line includes 48 tunnels, 55 major bridges, and one bridge taller than the Qutub Minar.
