KEM One Stop Centre Resumes Full Operations After Staff Shortage

KEM One Stop Centre Resumes Full Operations After Staff Shortage

Imagine a special place where women who are going through scary and difficult situations can get help.

This place is called a One Stop Centre and it is inside KEM Hospital in Mumbai, India.

It helps women who have faced violence by giving them doctors, lawyers, and people to talk to.

It also gives them a safe place to stay for a while.

For almost a whole month, this centre could only give some of that help because not enough helpers were working there.

The problem started when a group that was paying some of the helpers stopped supporting the centre.

A 19-year-old woman had to wait for almost five hours to find a safe place to stay, which made people notice the problem.

A newspaper, The Free Press Journal, told city officials about it.

The city's leader, Ashwini Bhide, promised to fix it.

Now, about 10 helpers, including counsellors and a lawyer, are back to work, and the centre is fully open again to help women in need.
