Tilaknagar Acquires Imperial Blue for ₹3,442 Crore
Tilaknagar Industries, a company that makes alcoholic drinks, bought the Imperial Blue whisky brand from Pernod Ricard.
They paid ₹3,442.34 crore upfront and will pay another €28 million in 2029.
Imperial Blue is a popular whisky brand in India, selling a lot of bottles and making a lot of money.
Tilaknagar used their own money, new investments, and loans to pay for this purchase.
They now own the brand, its factories, and will keep some of the workers.
This is a big deal because it helps Tilaknagar grow and sell more expensive drinks all over India.
Tilaknagar completed the acquisition of Imperial Blue from Pernod Ricard on November 30, 2025 for ₹3,442.34 crore with an additional €28 million due in 2029.
Imperial Blue is India's third-largest whisky brand by volume, with 22.4 million 9-litre cases sold in 2025 and ₹3,067 crore in revenue.
The acquisition includes manufacturing assets in Punjab, Maharashtra, Telangana, and global rights to Imperial Blue trademarks.
Tilaknagar financed the deal through internal accruals, ₹2,093 crore in equity, and ₹2,100 crore in debt.
The transaction marks Tilaknagar's entry into the whisky category and supports its pan-India expansion and premiumisation strategy.
