Donor Heart Reaches Noida in 16-Minute Green Corridor

Donor Heart Reaches Noida in 16-Minute Green Corridor

A 56-year-old man named Tapas Kumar Dey had a very weak heart.

Medicines were no longer helping him enough.

Doctors said he had only a 10% chance of surviving without a new heart.

A donor heart became available in Panchkula.

It was flown to Hindon Airport and then driven 20 kilometers to Noida.

Police and medical teams created a clear route, called a green corridor, so the heart arrived in 16 minutes.

The heart could only remain usable for about two to three hours.

Doctors at Fortis Hospital Noida replaced Dey’s failing heart and connected the donor heart to his blood vessels.

The hospital said the transplant was Noida and Western Uttar Pradesh’s first successful heart transplant.
