Karnataka Recommends Renaming Four Railway Stations After Saints
The government in Karnataka, a state in India, wants to give new names to four train stations.
They want to rename them after important religious figures, or saints, who are very important to the local culture and history.
They believe naming the stations after these saints will be a good way to honor them.
The state government has sent this idea to the national government's Home Ministry to get their permission.
If approved, the stations will get their new names.
All these stations are part of the South Western Railway.
The government is hoping for a quick decision.
Karnataka government proposes renaming four railway stations: Vijayapura, Belagavi, Bidar, and Sooragondanakoppa.
Proposed new names honor revered saints with local cultural and spiritual significance.
The Infrastructure Development Minister has formally sent the recommendation to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for approval.
The proposed names are Jnanayogi Shri Siddeshwar Swamiji Railway Station, Shri Basava Mahaswamiji Railway Station, Channabasava Pattadevaru Railway Station, and Bhayagad Railway Station.
