Mumbai Property Registrations Dip 10% in October Amid Higher Base
Imagine lots of people bought houses in Mumbai last October, making it a super busy month.
This year, in October, fewer people bought houses compared to last year, so registrations went down by 10%.
Even though fewer houses were registered, people still paid a lot of money in taxes, about Rs 1,040 crore.
This is 14% less tax money than last year.
The people who study houses say this is normal because last year was extra special for buying houses.
Most people who bought houses were looking for a place to live, not for investment.
This shows that people in Mumbai still want to buy homes.
Mumbai saw a 10% year-on-year decrease in property registrations in October 2025, totaling 11,649 units.
Stamp duty collections for property registrations in October 2025 reached Rs 1,040 crore, a 14% decline from the previous year.
The fall in registrations and collections is attributed to a high base effect from October 2024 and an advanced festive calendar.
Residential properties accounted for approximately 80% of the total registrations in October 2025.
Despite the year-on-year dip, the Mumbai housing market is described as stable with resilient underlying demand.
