Bengal Launches Document‑Free Census 2027 Self‑Enumeration
The 2027 Census in Bengal lets people fill out a form online without having to bring any papers.
They can log in, answer questions about their home, and finish later.
The first part of the census looks at houses and what’s inside them.
The second part, later in February, will count how many people live in each house.
By the end of the first day, more than 3 million people had started the online form, and officials hope 2.5 million people in Kolkata will finish it by the deadline.
Bengal residents can self‑enumerate for the 2027 Census without uploading documents.
The first phase collects housing and amenity data; the second phase, scheduled for February, will count people.
The online portal is open until midnight on August 15, 2024.
By 6 pm Sunday, 3.21 lakh people had logged in, including those who finished or partially completed the form.
Officials expect about 25 lakh Kolkata residents to finish self‑enumeration by the deadline.
