Omar Abdullah Steps Aside as Pakistan Protests US Envoy

US Ambassador Sergio Gor visited Jammu and Kashmir for the first time.

He said the region was an important part of India.

He also said the United States might change its travel advice if the area becomes safer.

Pakistan disagreed and formally complained to the United States.

Pakistan says Jammu and Kashmir is disputed and should be settled through UN resolutions and the wishes of its people.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the disagreement was between Pakistan and the United States.

The BJP praised Gor’s words, while Congress said India does not need approval from other countries.

Gor then continued his visit in Ladakh, while Abdullah discussed film, health and education projects.
