Foreign Investors Resume Selling Indian Equities in November
Imagine many people from other countries who invest in India are like tourists.
In October, they decided to stay and invest a bit more money here.
But now, in November, many of them are packing up and taking their money out of Indian stocks again, pulling out over Rs 12,000 crore.
This is happening because things look a bit uncertain in the world, making them nervous about investing in places like India right now.
They've taken out more than Rs 1.5 trillion from Indian stocks just this year!
While companies in India did a little better than expected in their recent reports, these foreign investors are still worried about global problems.
Some of these investors are also putting their money into countries like the US and China, which they think are doing better because of new technology like AI.
They are also taking some money out of Indian bonds, but putting a little bit back in through a special way.
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) resumed selling Indian equities in November, withdrawing Rs 12,569 crore after a brief pause in October.
This outflow is attributed to weak global cues and a general risk-off sentiment among investors.
Inflows in October were Rs 14,610 crore, which followed consistent outflows in July, August, and September.
Year-to-date in 2025, FPIs have withdrawn over Rs 1.5 trillion from Indian equities.
Divergence in FPI activity shows hedge funds selling in India while buying in markets like the US and China, perceived as beneficiaries of the AI-driven rally.
