Delhi HC Rejects Sengar's Plea to Suspend Sentence in Unnao Custodial Death Case
A man named Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who was once in the BJP party, is in trouble for doing bad things.
He and others are accused of hurting the father of a girl who was raped.
The father died while in police custody.
The court gave Sengar and others a 10-year prison sentence.
Sengar asked the court to pause his sentence while he appeals, but the court said no.
The court said that even though Sengar has been in jail for a long time, he can't get relief just because of the delay.
The court also said that the appeal should be heard quickly.
The father was arrested because of Sengar, and he died due to police brutality.
Sengar is also facing another case for raping the girl.
Delhi High Court rejected Kuldeep Singh Sengar's plea to suspend his 10-year sentence in the Unnao custodial death case.
Sengar and five others were sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for the custodial death of the Unnao rape survivor's father.
The trial court did not find the accused guilty of murder but convicted them under Section 304 of the IPC for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Sengar's brother, Atul Singh Sengar, was also sentenced to 10 years in jail for his role in the custodial killing.
Sengar's appeals in the main rape case and the father's case are pending in the high court.
